I seek out nearby places to explore the changing light, vibrant or soft colors, vistas or woods nature. I try to capture the growth and decay of nature and the cycles of the changing seasons. (Paintings in this Gallery have all been painted in the last several years.)
Within a mile of our house there are four incredible places where my husband and I frequently walk our dogs. Each inspire me to paint: Allandale Woods is a nature preserve with amazing rock formations, ponds, paths and old stone walls throughout an undisturbed woods. The nearby George Wright Golf Course welcomes folks and dogs when closed for the winter. It is an exceptional golf course with beautiful open spaces, high rock cliffs, winding streams and wooded areas. Millennium Park has wide vistas and beautiful wetlands and borders Brook Farm–the site of an historical Transcendental farming experiment. We have also enjoyed re-exploring Franklin Park--a large city park with beautiful open spaces, natural woods, stone steps and wandering paths. This park is an important part of Boston’s Riverway designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. It is incredibly special to find such inspirational places so close to our home in Roslindale.
