Colors and patterns express what I am feeling as I paint. I frequently use bold color and repetition. I see strength, beauty and delight when colors explode. Bold colors radiate feelings of energy, wonder, and happiness. They also might express anger, fear, isolation and loneliness. Soft colors invite one to enter quietly– to relax and feel the gentleness of someone — the sereneness of nature or the remembrance of a long lost place. Patterns also influence in my work. Repetition help emphasizes what is important. The rhythm and movement of shadows, light and reflections intrigue me. One can observe how a tree soars to the sky and light filters gently to the ground. Colors express the seasons as time slips by. I paint to share what inspires me, who I am, what I might be feeling at a particular time or place. Sometimes I relax and paint slowly and quietly. Other times I work quickly and feverishly.
