Studies, Sketches and Painting Progression

Included in this portfolio are rapid sketches, quick impressions and studies for paintings. I also share some different phases of several of my finished paintings. As I used watercolors for many years, I enjoy working  freely and quickly.  Almost all of my paintings begin with  “washes”.  I  find small quick paintings and sketches help to better capture immediate observations and explore new ideas and approaches to my art.  This past year I regularly joined the London Drawing Group. It has been a pleasure to work again with “live models on Zoom”! Below are a few of the hundreds of sketches and studies over the past several years.
